It has come down from ancient times that the first official step of a man and a woman to be declared as husband and wife is the exchange of the wedding rings. What makes a ring such a powerful symbol of love? The answer lies in the circular shape of it which is a symbol of eternity. Ancient Egyptians believed that the circle symbolizes a gateway which leads people to something which is unknown to them. They used to relate the circle to the shape of the moon and the sun and worship it too. Thus, the wedding ring started being related to love and emotions.
